Cowboys Restaurant

In November we walked by the outdoor seating area at Cowboys restaurant....I thought this must be a great place to go in the summer.....is it??

Very nice spot in summer (althought it is a bit cold and gray in Prague today).

I%26#39;m not the biggest fan of Cowboys. It is not bad, but I thought it was overpriced, the steak was small, and the service slow. All side items are extra and the bill mounts fast (spent around $100 for two for what I considered only an average dinner).

Had dinner there last week and really enjoyed it. It was a very welcome releif from the usual %26quot;authentic Czech%26quot; cuisine of roast pork, dumplings and sauerkraut

Had a nice sirloin steak that was properly cooked (medium rare). Fries and salad were tasty also. Service was quick but restaurant was not crowded. They have a great patio but we sat inside due to rain.

It was pricey for Prague but a comparable meal would have been about the same price here at home, so price was not an issue with me.

They had some great desserts too..

I would reccomend Cowboys or any of the other Kampa Group restaurants for a good meal. Athough Kampa Group restaurants are a bit pricey by Prague standards, I think it is worth the money.

cowboys is worth it only if you can eat outside (but beware, the view from the actual terrace of the city is less spectacular than from the castle above)

Actually, there is one small, higher part of the terrace that has a better view than the rest. You%26#39;d have to try to get that.

We went to Cowboys after seeing the terrace from Hradcany Castle. It looked really inviting and as it was near us, we said we would try it out.

We knew where it was as we were staying in the Castle Steps in Mala Strana and we had passed it a couple of times.

It was raining when we went in on the Wednesday evening last week and they asked us whether we wanted to go up to the terrace or stay downstairs.

We went upstairs and sat in the room off the terrace. That was fine although as a non-smoker, it was annoying to have a man chugging on a cigar beside us. My friends are smokers but they are good about not smoking through the meal

Overall it was enjoyable but not really worth the money. the food was good but its a steakhouse really so if the meat is good, everything else will follow.

we all thought the service was very amateur and not what you would expect from an upmarket restaurant. I am a restaurant manager and it did seem to me like the staff were ill-trained.

By comparison, we went to Siam I-San behind Arzenal just behind the Carolinum and it was lovely.

We also tried Ambiente on Celetna and we really enjoyed that.

It wasnt cheap but for the same money, you got a great atmosphere and really professional service.

Overall I think if you are going to stay in prague, you are better off skipping Cowboys and spending your money elsewhere.

Thanks for the replies...I do remember now looking down on it from the walkway to the castle. Send a little rain our way...we are baking out west...over 100 degrees this week....even too hot for the real cowboys hearding cattle.
