Strahov Library

I sent an email query to the Strahov Library after reading somewhere (perhaps here) that the admission price only got one a glimpse into the library. The response from the library gave me this information:

%26quot;You have 2 possibilities:

turist area - fee 80, CZK per person

private guided tour, 350 CZK per person + 1200, english guide, photo and video permission inclusive...%26quot;

Does anyone have any experience with these options? Is it worthwhile?

Thank you.

I%26#39;m not 100% sure, I think with the 80 CZK option, you just get to look in from a doorways. You pay extra to take photos.

The library is several (3-4?) large rooms and they are quite impressive. Beautiful painted ceilings, tall book cases with gold, and of course very old books. There are old globes around the rooms.

I live in Prague, and I just had a private tour after a christening in the church, so I don%26#39;t know if it is like the paid tour. But I saw others getting tours and it sounded like they were getting some interesting information and anecdotes.

It is a lot of money -- up to you whether it is worth it.

the 80 crown option just gives you a glimpse through the door for about 5 seconds and people who have been these have said that they felt short changed. the private tour option gives you more including the opportunity to be shown some of the rare books and manuscripts they have. it is expensive and is probably only worth it if the subject matter or james bond interests you

I took the 80 crown option a month back and I did think it was worth it. We got more than a 5 second glimpse of the rooms though, it was just unfortunate that you cannot go into the rooms and have to view them from the doorway. Very impressive though.
