I%26#39;ve found a few sites that lists pubs that serve the Tankovna or unpasteurized Pilsner Urquell. I had some of this years ago when I visited and absolutely love it!!!
I read that there only a limited number of pubs/restaurants that serve it. Does anyone know if this is accurate, if so, how can I get a list of them so I can find the ones closest to my room (Charles Bridge B%26amp;B)?
Thanks,
Jason

I don%26#39;t know, but having tasted some at the brewery in Plzn, I%26#39;d like to.
Do a search of the forum archives on the word %26quot;unpasteurized%26quot;; it seems I%26#39;ve seen someone mention this before.

Hi.
I havent been able to find a complete list of Tankovna places but check out www.praguepubs.com and read about it.
The ones i know of, closest to your room would be U Rudolfina (over the bridge and a few blocks to the left) and U Vejvodu (map).
Im sure you will get more information fron Peb7 or Unclegus on this one.

The best information I have is Pilsner Urquell Kvasnicovy, which is unique more because it is unfiltered rather than for lack of pasteurization, is available only at the brewery and one or two other pubs in Plzen.

it is illegal to sell unpasturised beer in the EEc,you can get unpasturised unfiltered beer in the Plzen brewery but they give it away as free samples ( see my avatar)..
The term Tankova applies to pubs that use large voluems of the beer and have them pumped to tanks in the cellars,but getting the old-fashioned unpasturised taste unfiltered taste of old are gone due to EEc regulations.

www.classiccitybrew.com/prague
www.praguepubs.co.uk
will list lots of great pubs and brewery pubs and most are within walking distance or short tram ride of where you are staying.
have a look at this link,it is what I got upto on my trip in March 2006http://www.tripadvisor.com/GoListDetail-i2106-Unclegus_s_trip_to_Prague.html
I made another journey in may this year but have not had time to write up the full report (yet).
If you want to make a pilgramage to Pilzen let me know and I can give you specific directions to get there,its well worth the trip and easy to make from Prague.

%26#39;tankovna%26#39; means that they serve the beer from tanks rather than barrels. pilsner mainly does this in certain pubs in town.
try olympia on vitezna street the other side of the river to the national theatre, kolkovna on v kolkovne street near the old town square and u zeleneho stromu on betlemske namesti just south of the old town square

Unclegus!
You can get both unfiltered and unpasteurized beer, Unclegus! I%26#39;ll think you have tried it at the golden tiger.
To the orginal poster: See this link about tankovna pubs in Prague:

So you%26#39;re saying the beer I had 5 years ago in various pubs is no longer available?
Most of the articles are a couple years old that talk about Tankovna.
If I can%26#39;t get the unpasteurized version again I will be very upset.
|||
the tankovna beer is close to unpasturised beer, but technically not the same
|||
Just for clarification, I%26#39;m not referring to the unfiltered version, just the unpasteurized version that is filled in the bladder type tanks in the pubs.
The first time the beer is introduced to oxygen is when it pours from the tap....oh I can%26#39;t wait!!!
