Thanks for the concert recommendations a few posts back. I did book tickets for a Saturday night Tchaikovsky concert at the Rudolfinum. Any dress code here? Can my husband where slacks and a button down or is a jacket preferred?

smart casual ,is more than ok,you will see people in lounge suits or jackets ,but many many others will be dressed in slacks and shirts.

If you%26#39;re not packing a jacket to wear any other time, I wouldn%26#39;t bother adding it to the suitcase just for one show. Slacks and a shirt will be fine.
Jeans are frowned apon, but even so you will still see several people in jeans at the concert.

Generally you will find that Czech people will be relatively dressed up for a concert, but tourists/travellers much less so. Slacks and a button down would be absolutely fine, and fit in ok.

Out of curiosity, would the suggested atiire change for concerts during the winter? My wife will be attending an evening Dvorak concert at the Rudolfinum in early January.

if Czech people visit places like Rudolfinum, they wear suits , jackets etc. so jacket is preffered. If you don%26#39;t want to pack such clothes with you, I suggest to wear slacks and button down. Wearing jeans and sneakers is improper. You may see some people wearing jeans but they are usullaly tourists, Czech people wouldn%26#39;t wear them

slacks and a shirt in the rudolfinium in the summer should be ok - there is no dress code. unless it is hot, most of the locals will have t least a jacket
in the winter, people wear suits which are often a lot smarter than the coats they are underneath
