metro runs from 6 till midnight. buses and trams are running 24/7.
taxis can be very expensive for 15 min rides, normal price is around 30 czk to get in and 30 czk per km.
drinking age is 18. have your passport copied if you look younger.
drinks are cheap indeed, you just have to look at the menu to prevend surprises. my limit is 35 czk for a beer. i like to go out in the area between old town square and the river.
have the bartender calling an aaa taxi or send sms to city taxi +420 777 257 257 or take a taxi from one of those places:

thank you very much for your reply.

if you stay in or near the centre, you may not need taxis or metro. prague is quite compact and very walkable. for clubs, try lavka and karlovy lazne almost next door to eachother near the charles bridge or try duplex on wenceslas square.
the AAA taxi number is 14014. they speak english. just say where you are and where you want to go and they pick you up in about 15 minutes. as said by heinokules, taxis charge by distance not by time. the rates are higher in the night than in the day

This is where we are staying any idea on where it is, i have been told its not in the centre.

it%26#39;s close to metro chodov, out of town. after midnight is the night bus going to the metro station which is a 10 min walk from the hotel. check out for a bus stop near the shopping mall and write down all blue numbers with 500, think your bus would be 504. night bus stop in the centre is top of wenceslas square to the left, near mc donalds.
|||
you are miles out. as heinokules rightly says you are ten minutes walk from the nearest metro. you should buy a 3 or 7 day transport pass at the airport as you will need public transport every day.
the night buses that you need at 505 and 511. as heinokules says, they go from near mcdonalds on wilsonovea street near the central station.
expect to pay 500 crowns at night for a taxi from the centre (the drive is not 15 minutes)

Thanks for all your help, we are going for three days so we will get a 3 day pass from the airport. Are we far from the airport we are now worried about making our early morning flight back to the uk its at 7:30 we need to be be at the airport for 5:30 what time would you recomend leaving the hotel and for that trip would you recomend a taxi? as our travel card will have run out on the tuesday morning as we arrive there this saturday.
Many thanks for your help

either take a taxi (which should cost about 900 crowns), or have someone like www.prague-airport-shuttle.com to come and pick you up at the hotel as they will be cheaper. at that time of the morning, the taxi / transport company route will be far quicker than public transport
assuming you are taking the czech airlines early morning flight to stansted, you only need to be at the airport one hour in advance instead of 2 hours in advance. so having someone come and pick you up at your hotel at 5.30am should easily be sufficient

Excelent we will check out the airport shuttle service.
Thats is the flight we are on to stansted so thats was great info thanks.
Do you think we will strugle to get around we dont want trouble everynight trying to get back from the centre we will head back on sat and sunday after the clubs shut. My mate is 19 but looks quite young.
is the crime rate high on tourists?
Do women really try it on with guys for there wallets and do they try getting blokes in bars so they can can have a drink with them for a bar bill of £300 for like 2 drinks.

I think you will have a real hassle if you are staying in the city centre past midnight every night, calling taxis or trying to catch the night bus and remembering where to get off.
pickpocketing is high on tourists, but if you take sensible precautions like don%26#39;t walk around with your wallet in your back pocket you should be ok.
there are many many cases, of naive young lads buying professionals drinks in clubs and ending up with a very high bar bill, so be careful when you are in adult clubs
