Flying out to Prague this Friday (27th) 11 of us and we all cannot wait!
We are staying at Halkova Hotel at 3 Halkova.
What will the weather be like this weekend and what local food dishes can we look froward to trying?
I keep reading about the game on the menu which would be quite nice but is that seasonal and we are all a bit confused as to which beer to go for as we have heard that there are quite a few to choose and they vary in strength.
Can anyone reccomend a good pilsner about 5 percent ?
Thanks,
Hooty

food is great in Prague, the usual game dishes are Venison, rabbit and wild boar.I don%26#39;t know if it is seasonal or comes out the freezer, but i do know it is bloody good.Goose and duck are usually widely available too, portions are generous and any two course meal will fill the hungriest person.
as to beer you may find in a lot of places only one or two types of beer available and in others a much wider range.
My favourites are
Krosovice ,Pilsner Urqeull,Budvar,Bernard ,Kozel and Gambrinus.Staroprammen and Radegast are also widely available .Most of these are about 5% alcohol give or take a little.several brewery pubs about as well.
www.praguepubs.co.uk will list them.

Sorry my friend!
Thanks for the info.
Its just that i%26#39;m sick of all the rain and it would be nice to have just 3 days without any.

Know how you feel ,at least we up here have not been as badly affected as in England.
Enjoy your trip and remember to try Becherovka a fiery local spirit available in all the bars.

BBC 5 day forecast predicts warm and sunny for the rest of the week. Saturday 26C Sunny with 7mph westerly breeze. Hope that lasts into next week I%26#39;m due to fly in on the 31st July.

I%26#39;m heading in on monday (30th i think) with a few mates, looking forward to decent weather, good food and great beer in lovely pubs :D
i%26#39;ve been gearing up with Tesco%26#39;s own Czech lager, Vlatislav - 89p for 500ml. cheap but cheerful!

You must try a pub called U Pinkasu, dunno the street name but stand at the very bottom of Wenceslas Square by the news stand, Na Prikope to your right. Turn left and the pub is within about 100 yards of you. It is a good Czech pub where they pulled the 1st ever pint of Urquell a long time ago!
The barman is a gentle giant who not only drinks behind the bar but smokes as well so he%26#39;ll do for me. Been to Prague 8 times and always go in here

UncleGus is insane!! Don%26#39;t under any provocation, no matter how drunk you are, touch (never mind drink) Becherovka. Just look at the colour and realise it%26#39;s not for human consumption.

Becherovka is fine. Sort of like cinnamon schnapps. It has medicinal properties. Cures my sobriety.
