pollution during winter

I%26#39;ve read some old posts from a few years ago about how bad the air pollution is in Prague in the winter time. Is this still true or has the air improved? Thinking of taking a quick New Year%26#39;s Eve trip there this year, but am concerned about the air. I%26#39;m pretty sensitive to these things.....have experienced mild a pollution-induced cough in LA in August, if that provides any reference point.

Hi there,

i have pretty bad asthma and allergies and travelled to prague and many other european cities last winter. i found that my %26#39;cough%26#39; was worst in paris (first european city we experienced) and also in vienna...freezing air temps and also many cigarette smokers esp in restaurants...if you have medications then dose up on the first couple of days and you should be ok, i didn%26#39;t think the pollution was any worse than any other city on my trip.

We regularly travel in winter and were is Prague Dece 06. The skies tend to be grey, not so much from pollution but just the weather at this time of year. My husband gets asthma and found the cigarette smoke more of a problem than city pollution. Every where you go the places are closed to keep the cold out but also keeps the smoke in.

prague is polluted and you will notice it in winter (but probably only when you go elsewhere and find the air much cleaner). however, if it is cold, you notice the cold more than the pollution

if you stay on the castle side of the river, this is generally cleaner than the old town as there is more green space there
