One option we%26#39;re considering is to take 3 days and rent a car and go out of Prague. We%26#39;re considering heading down to Cesky Krumlov and the nearby areas. What would be a good itinerary for those 3 days, and the best (preferably upscale) hotels to stay in? We would do this when we arrive in the C. R. and then go back and spend 5 nights in Prague. We already have our hotel booked for Prague - the Praha Palace, but need suggestions for a few days at the beginning of our trip.
Thanks for the help!

I would stay 2 nights in cesky krumlov and 1 night in karlovy vary. on first day, drive to cesky krumlov via telc, hlobuka and ceske budejovice on the way to arriving in cesky krumlov in the evening. spend one day looking round cesky krumlov. hotel ruze is the best hotel in the city, but it doesn%26#39;t give value for money. look at the dvorak and gold as well.
on early morning of 3rd day, drive to karlovy vary - if you need a stop, visit the wonderful castle town at loket on the way, and if possible visit the village of holasovice near ot cesky krumlov just atfer you start. arrive karlovy vary in afternoon and then stay until next afternoon. the best hotels in karlovy vary are the pupp, carlsbad plaza and the savoy westend
when you hire a car, take out the maxixmum insurance possible. there are too many idiots on the road for you not to do this

Thank you so much for your help. Another option we had considered was 2 nights in Cesky Krumlov and one night in Cesky Budjovice (sp). Any thoughts on that itinerary? Or do you prefer the one you originally sent? Heard that Hotel Stekl was very nice for a night%26#39;s stay. Thanks again!

no point in staying 2 nights in ceske budejovice and 1 in cesky krumlov. the two places are 30 minutes or so down the road from eachother. you can go to ceske budejovice on the way from cesky krumlov or take a day trip from cesky krumlov
hotel stekl is not in ceske budejovice, but in hluboka by the castle. it is worth a night%26#39;s trip, but if you do that stay only one night in cesky krumlov. the same people that own the stekl own the hotel gold in cesky krumlov which is also pretty good
