hi all going to prague in september will the banks change travellers cheques or is it best to take cash.

It is much better to use your bank/ATM card. There are plenty of %26quot;bankomats%26quot; (cash-machines/ATMs) around the town.
Using travellers chequest is a really bad idea. You will have to pay a cashing fee per cheque, then commision on the exchange. Then you either have to queue in banks or go to one of the notorious exchange counters which will charge you a hich commision fee.
If you do not have a visa or cirrus-maestro bank-card then bring cash. Only carry with you what you need for the day and keep the rest in a hotel safe.

Hi
I totally agree, forget the travellers cheques they are practically obsolete these days, you might as well travel with a bunch of white fivers.
If you don%26#39;t have a visa debit card then you have time to sort yourself out before September. Your best bet is the Nationwide, brilliant exchange rates and no charges. If you have to take cash then Marks and Spencer will give you the best exchange rates, with the post office and banks a distant second.
Have a good trip

This is a regular question on this and other forums.
T/c%26#39;s are pretty much obsolete in europe nowadays and I would follow the advice of the previous posters.
If you are only going for a few daus take cash with you and if longer use the ATm%26#39;s.

agree wtih all the above. travellers cheques are outdated and limited in the places that take them.
take czech crowns - some of the places mentioned above - marks %26amp; spencer and indeed the post office often have better rates after commission than exchanging pounds for czech crowns in prague.
if you use a bank ATM and do not have a Nationwide card, be sure to understand how much your bank will charge you for using an ATM abroad
