Buying Beer To Take Home

Hi

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good place to buy some local brews but not the usual suspects such as Staropramen?

Would like to bring a few bottles home :-)

Thanks

this is a very good bar/resturant in Prague that has a good range of beers and beer related goodies in their shop.their own brew is call Oldgott and is very good.

but remember if you buy in town you cannot take the beer back as hand luggage and if you put it in your suitcase the beer will probably break. there are a couple of shops to buy czech beer at the airport past the passport control (duty free shop and the food shop) you need them to seal and wrap the beer in plastic bags or you will have this confiscated at security

Many Thanks

Esp. for the advice re Airport. Think I might wait until then to purchase.

Cheers!

you will find at the airport it is mainly canned beers and the usual suspects.

Staropramen,Pilsner Urquell,Budvar,Radegast,Gambrinus and Krosovice.

Ah... In that case will pack a few (and I mean well cushioned!)in our luggage.

Cheers!

what to do is when you arrive on your incoming flight take a quick look in the airport shops (you usually have to pass them to get to baggage reclaim) and see if the range they have might be suitable,if not then bring some bubble wrap and hope for the best.

My partner and I have purchased half a dozen bottles of Kozel Dark and put them in our hold luggage. We have wrapped them up in a piece of clothing (t-shirt etc) each. Our luggage is a 65 litre rucksack. Never had a smashed/leaking bottle.

Hi culturegirl

Have ferried beer back home in the hold before from Amsterdam and all was good. No broken bottles!

Although I will try and scope out the Airport if I%26#39;m able to when we arrive.

Thanks.

Pivni Galerie in Holesovice is definitely the best place. But there is another more central shop, Galerie Piva. It is located only steps West of Charles Bridge.
