We are going to a wedding in Cesky Krumlov in July. We are flying to Prague and hiring a car. We have booked to stay a further 10 days. We have 2 children 5 and 7 years old and are looking for a week somewhere to relax. Any suggestions would be welcome. We are considering Austria or staying in Czech republic. Any suggestions which are not too far to drive.

I am not sure how far you are willing to drive from Cesky Krumlov. My suggestion would be a trip to Salzburg and the surrounding area. Salzburg is a beautiful walkable town, and there is so much to see. It is also very different from Prague and Cesky Krumlov. The scenery in the surrounding lakes and hills is breathtaking. Enjoy your trip.

im also considering either staying in cesky krumlov or visiting for the day from austria if we visit for the day we have decided to stay in the linz area as it is only 2 hour drive to cesky krumlov and roughly the same to salzburg and vienna..

Very close by is lake Lipno, which is a nice place to relax and has water activities.
