Where to stay in countryside around Prague? Know a spot?

Can anyone recommend a nice hotel or nice village to stay in that is around no more than an hour by train or taxi from Prague airport?

We%26#39;d like a country / walking mountain / lake type holiday, but with a 4 star hotel at night with gym/pool (and maybe some nearby restaurants)

This is not an easy request, the mountains are 2-3 hours away, 4* hotels with pools and nearby decent restaurants anywhere outside of Prague are not prolific.

A good option could be Karlovy Vary. Here there are many good hotels, good restaurants, and good walking in the area, although not mountainous. Many hotels have pools or access to the spa. There are also plenty of good restaurants in the town (Hotel Promenade %26amp; Aqua Marina leap to mind). There are walking paths directly from the town, or regular buses can ship you further afield for a point-to-point walk. If you are staying for a week or more also visit Loket %26amp; Marianske Lazne in the area. The bad news is that it is a 2½ hour trip, there are direct buses from the airport, or you can of course, arrange a transfer.

If you are desperate for mountains, head to the ski resorts Spinderluv Mlyn or Pec pod Snezku, it%26#39;s %26gt;3hour trip though. I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll find 4* hotels at both resorts. Be aware that they are ski resorts and the slopes close to the village often get damaged by the skiing so may not be postcard perfect - on the other hand the cable cars often run throughout the year, meaning you can get a lift up the first mountain and save your energy for the peak behind it.
