We stayed the our teenage son at Masna apartments just near the Old town square and it was great. Clean. comfortable. serviced daily and in a great location. There is a supermarket about 5-10 minutes walk away and restaurants and cafes nearby. The apartments are well appointed. Check out the website http://www.masna-apartment-house.cz/. We had a one bedroom and our son was on a sofa bed which was very comfortable. I recall tthat the apartment on the top floor had an attic bedroom and accommodated more people. We would definitely stay there again and have recommended to friends who are going in 2008. Prague is a very walkable city and the old town area is fine at night. We were there in Dec 06 and so it was dark early and we never felt uncomfortable in this part of town. It is a good location for walking to all the sights.

you don%26#39;t say what you mean by %26#39;expensive%26#39; i.e. what kind of hotel room you are looking for. two small apartments in the same building may be cheaper than one large three bedroom apartment

if you want to look at apartments, some of the other sites which various people have commented as using on this site are as follows:

www.homesweethome.cz

www.happyhouserentals.com

www.castlesteps.com

www.appia-apartments.com

www.suitehome.cz

prague 2 is not a bad location. much of it is in walking distance of the old town or if not connected by tram. you can get better value accomodation there than in the city centre, so do not discount the area

ok thanks to you both for taking the time,2 small appartments?mmm thats a good idea,the hotels were only 3 star but wanting one double and 2 single,{my son and daughter are 22 and 23 so sharing is out}were around about £800 which i think for 4 nights is insane.i dont really want to take trams so need a walkable area,when i booked flights i didnt realise oct was high season,will tget any good deals if i book last minute or is it best to book now?i dont want to end up with nothing,

|||

last minute deals on apartments are more scarce than on hotels. generally apartments don%26#39;t dump their rooms on the same websites that hotels do. I would book now and at least you have your accomodation sorted out

Hi don%26#39;t quite understand your reason for not wanting to take trams. Thought part of travelling is to get a feel of the people, their lives and not just taking in all the tourist sights. Prague transport system is efficient and with one or two rides, you%26#39;ll get a hand of it. Moreover it is much cheaper to stay outside the perimeter where the amount paid can get you better and bigger accomodations; beside Prague is generally quite safe.

Hi

us as a couple in our 50%26#39;s,with kids gone are staying at Bilkova Apartments via Mary%26#39;s Travel service which so far seems quite good.

www.marys.cz There are maps/plans of each apartment.

We have booked1-6 persons with 2 rooms 1 bedroom and one living room and kitchen/dining room with lift on first floor 60 sq metres location is in Jewish Quarter Praha 1 and for about 700 CZK transport from railway station (ex Vienna) can be provided.

But payment is asked for in advance in cash...not able to use credit cards. 2,356 CZK per night equate about 516 euros for 6 nights will be about sterling pounds 344 or 57 UK pounds per night.

516 euros for an apartment 6 nights in the old town seems a good price. marys are well known. bilkova is in the old town in walking distance of most places. there is a supermarket 10 minutes walk away

|||

only reason i didnt want trams was in krakow i got totaly lost,im hopeless id rather walk,ill try the marys appartments,i found a good site euro somat or other but cant find it again,it was advertised on trip advisor.

A group of us stayed in an apartment at the beginning of June %26#39;07 which I would happily recommend

Apts N1 - N4 are very nice for a small group. We had a look around them although we were in one of the larger (3 bed) apts. Very clean, safe and well equipped. Re-reading your post the 3 bed we stayed in might suit you as it has three dbl bedrooms - so you have the choice of one apt or a couple to suit your needs.

We paid the equivilent of £19.50 a head for five of us sharing which was very reasonable considering the facilities. Note we where a group of mature-ish ladies not one of the hen/stag party types and the building was verey quiet!

The tram stops right outside and there are two that take you right into the center (6 and 11). It really is very easy and you will not get lost! Supermarket etc nearby.

that sounds great i will be checking that out now
