Train Itinerary from Frankfurt - Can you help?

We are planning a trip for October. We will have a Rail Pass that will include Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, and Hungary.

We want to use the pass of course, but want also comfortable trains with some interesting scenery. We%26#39;ve not been to E Europe before, but have traveled several times to Germany and Austria. We%26#39;ve stayed in Vienna, Innsbruck, Durnstein in Austria and in Northern Germany by the Denmark Border and several places on the Mosel and the Mainz on the Rhine as well as the Black Forest. We have take a bus over the Romantic Road. We hope to visit places we haven%26#39;t seen before, but would like to revisit Vienna for the music (our 40th Anniversary Trip) or maybe Prague or Budapest for music venues also.

We can probably afford 2 sleeper nights - the rest will have to be on land. We haven%26#39;t stayed in Passau nor Nuremberg so they are possibilities.

We are seniors - retired educators on a budget - so will be also asking about affordable lodging that is accessible. We can make a flight of stairs, but more than that our knees aren%26#39;t happy. We like music, folklore, scenery, food and wine and talking with locals. I speak enough German to allow great amusement to those listening!

I%26#39;m hoping that one of you enjoys planning trips and after reading this, you may have ideas and suggestions. We are flying RT Frankfurt so we would like to go in a circle! We have about 3 weeks to work with, maybe a bit more if our money holds out.

Thanks for any help.

you had better not put hungary at the end as this is the farthest from frankfurt. you either do germany - austria - hungary - czech republic and then frankfurt, or the other way round.

from prague to frankfurt there is a direct overnight train, or you change at dresden (this is also available as a day train, as for sleepers, I guess you will need to pay a supplement). Check also whether the German ICE trains are valid for your rail pass, as with most rail passes you need to pay a supplement to use them.

prague to budapest takes 6 hours or so and there are a number of trains per day.

In prague, you do not need any german - most people in the tourist centre speak english
