hard alcohol is cheaper at the duty free and you can buy in larger bottles. you also need to remember that you cannot take bottles through as hand luggage and so anything you buy in the town needs to go in hold luggage where it may be broken. if you buy drink at the airport duty free, as the security is at the gate, you need to have the purchase sealed in a plastic bag or security will confiscate it.

cigarettes are cheaper at the airport than in the city as you can buy them in larger packets and at least you have a guarantee they are genuine rather than couterfeit, but remember there is a limit of 200 cigarettes per person which you can take back.

perfume and cosmetics are slightly cheaper at the airport but the choice is not large so don%26#39;t rely on being able to buy something specific.

the question %26#39; .... does any one know the average cost of these...%26#39; is unfortunately so general that it cannot be answered. what is the %26#39;average cost%26#39; of drink and smellies?, as the price varies completely depending on what you buy. whatever it is, especially for alcohol, it is cheaper than in the UK
