Prague

Hello everyone,

My partner and I (both mid thirty%26#39;s) will be visiting Prague from the UK for 3 nights this weekend.

I have only booked it today and we have not been before so any advise or info would be gratefully recieved.

We are staying at the Novotel - has anyone been recently is it ok

How far is it from the main places - are they walkable

What are the must see%26#39;s

Any advise on good Bars / Resturants near the hotel or where to go

What sort of costs for say beer / wine / nice meal / taxi

What is the weather like at the moment and what sort of dress code is it - do people get dressed up or is it quite casual.

Any further tips or advise you may have

Sorry for all questions.

Thanks alot

Clare.

which novotel are you staying at - the novotel wenceslas square or the dorint novotel out at zelivskeho? they are significantly apart and so to recommend good places nearby, we would be recommending somewhere in a completely different area. Ditto with transport

you can easily eat out for a good meal for 20 pounds a head with beer and often less - wine which is not local is expensive in prague. restaurants are casual in the summer, no need to dress up

Novotel Wenceles Square.

I think its the Wenceles Square one, just checked the booking which refers to Hotel Novotel City / Novotel Praha City so not sure now???

novotel praha city is now called the novotel wenceslas square. but it is about 15 minutes walk from wenceslas square and it is not a nice one. it is though down the street from a busy tram station which can take you directly to the old town and castle area, so buy yourself a 3 day tramcard at the airport when you arrive.

there are 40 mostly good reviews of the hotel on the reviews section of this site under %26#39;prague hotels%26#39; hotel is fairly new and has a good swimming pool. restaurants nearby include the jb club further down the hill on the same street as the hotel and a good microbrewery restaurant, pivovarsky dum, on he corner of lipova and jecna streets (you are advised to make a booking for this as it is popular).

novotel has its own pick up service from the airport which is about the same price as a taxi and which you can charge to your room

forecast for the weekend is sunny and about 24 degrees
