there are loads of czech bars all around the city serving good czech beer, but what do you mean %26quot;... aren%26#39;t commercial ..%26quot;? they don%26#39;t give the beer away for free; they charge for it.
another question is are you going as part of a stag party, because what bars are accessible can differ than if you are not?

there are lots serving great czech beer and good czech food.
www.praguepubs.co.uk
www .classiccitybrew.com/prague
will list lots
my favourites are U Medvidku ,U Templare ,U Vejvodu and U Zlateho Tygra and these are all within a short walk of old town square.
on my most recent visit my friends and I had drinks in a few local bars in the Zizkov area near our hotel, just good local pubs with great cheap beer and on some occasions live music.

Rik,
The traditional pub scene in Prague is neighborhood-based. So, while there are some good bars in the center, you%26#39;re probably going to get more of the experience you want by getting out to Zizkov, or into some of the Prague 2 neighborhoods. Ask around once you%26#39;re there.

Agree with the above. Zizkov and Smichov both well stocked with neighbourhood pubs. Prices are really good and the beer enjoyable. But even the big beer halls that Unclegus mentions are very reasonable priced and have plenty of atmosphere

not necessarily the case. many of the best authentic bars are in the centre such as u vejvodu and u zlateho tygra and others such as u pinkasu and ferdinandu near wenceslas square. wouldn%26#39;t recommend anyone head for zizkov unless they stay in a hotel there
