AAA taxis

Hi, I think i%26#39;ve read in a previous reply from Peb7 that there are now AAA taxis at Holesovice, is that correct? Also are there AAA taxis now at hlavni nadrazi aswell, or if not what is the best bet there for a taxi to the airport, please?

My son is arriving back in Prague from Olomouc tomorrow and due to confusion when buying the ticket is not sure now whether to catch a train to the main station or buy another one for the Pendolino to Holesovice, the original plan.

I realize this enquiry doesn%26#39;t leave anyone much time to reply but if anyone can suggest the best plan from both stations it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks alot.

whether you catch the train to holesovice or to hlavni nadrazi purely depends on what train you wish to catch - the trains that go from olomouc to holesovice do not generally stop at hlavni nadrazi and most of the trains that go from olomouc to hlavni nadrazi do not stop at holesovice (if they do, it is the stop after hlavni nadrazi).

the fast pendolino trains only stop at holesovice.

as for onward travel, there are now AAA taxi stands at both stations, but it is not guaranteed that there will be AAA taxis at each minute of the day. if there is no AAA taxi their telephone number is 14014 and they speak english.

but the question is where your son is traveling on to and how much luggage will he have - we can%26#39;t really say what the best plan for onward travel is unless we know where your son is going to? both holesovice and hlavni nadrazi are both on the red metro line and so onward travel can be by public transport but this may not be convenient as to where he is travelling to

Peb7,

That%26#39;s fine - my question really concerned the taxis. I think I mentioned it was to the airport he%26#39;d be going, and a taxi would be best with his amount of luggage.

I probably didn%26#39;t make it clear - we realize the Pendolino goes to Holesovice and most of the others go to hlavni nadrazi (thanks to yourself and Sarah for the IDOS site!). The reason why he%26#39;s not sure now which train he%26#39;s getting (although he%26#39;s aware of which trains go to which stations) is because yesterday when they bought the tickets they didn%26#39;t specify the Pendolino and he now suspects that their tickets are probably not valid for that one. That was the original plan and was what he did when going out to Olomouc, but yesterday they got a discount being 2 of them and the IDOS site doesn%26#39;t show any discount prices for the Pendolino trains as it does for others. So I was trying to check if there were AAA taxis at hlavni aswell in case they used their existing tickets and so arrived there instead of Holesovice as he%26#39;s wondering whether to do that now if it would mean buying another ticket for the Pendolino.

Sorry this has got long winded! - as long as he can ring AAA taxis from either station if there aren%26#39;t any present that should be ok. He got an AAA one from the airport to Holesovice on his way to Olomouc but said there were about 4 sets of people trying to grab the one he got out of at Holesovice which apparently wasn%26#39;t available for any of them.

Thanks again for the info.

If you have a basic ticket for olomouc to prague it probably isn%26#39;t valid for the pendolino. but he can go to olomouc station to pay a supplement for the pendolino (but it must be done before the departure time).

sorry - missed that he was going to the airport. the international AAA number (as 14014 does not work on some international mobiles) is +420 221 102 211

If arrival is at holesovice, there is a connecting bus called the Airport Express which goes from Holesovice station every 30 minutes directly to the airport. Quite stupidly though, the pendolino trains should arrive at holesovice at 18 minutes past the hour and the airport express buses go at 15 and 45 minutes past the hour. however if time is not an issue, as this only costs 45 crowns (as opposed to 500 crowns or so for a taxi), this is the way to go
