My partner and I are spending 48 hours in Prague this weekend (17-19th August 2007) and i%26#39;d like to take him to a romantic and scenic restaurant in Prague serving both international and Czech foods - are there any gems out there that don%26#39;t cost the absolute earth? Thanks

I%26#39;m not sure what your budget would be - might be an idea to give some idea of what you want to pay per head and the experts will advise accordingly.
Last December we ate in the riverside part of Kampa Park restaurant, down the steps and right on the river looking across to Charles Bridge illuminated at night, and I think that vista would be hard to beat - romantic and scenic. Service was excellent.
We chose carefully from the menu and with a bottle of decent wine and 3 courses (including 2 steaks), we had a fabulous meal for £100.00. On the basis you would pay probably £80.00 or more for a similar meal in Oxford, I thought that was pretty good. You can book Kampa Park online, just take your booking confirmation with you when you go.
Hope you enjoy Prague, we did.

Thanks for that. I%26#39;d seen Kampa Park in many of the guidebooks and online and £100 would be about right. Looking at some of the menus in some of the more expensive restaurants i thought the wine was very expensive - is that something anyone else has experienced?

Kampa Park has one of the best views. It is certainly one of the most expensive restaurants in the city, with many main courses at 22 pounds. Cihelna is next to it, same ownership, a little cheaper, but only views from the big outside terrace.
Another suggestion in that range is La Perle de Prague. Always make sure you are getting a table with a view when you reserve.

nebozizek serves czech food and so is not in the same class as kampa park or le perle de prague, but is reached by taking the funicular up petrin hill to the middle station. the food is better than expected at such a tourist site.
bellavista, up by the strahov monastery also has very good views

I%26#39;m trying to decide between Bellevue and Kampa for a romantic for a special occasion, romantic meal. It is so hard to choose. Any advice?

bellevue for the food. kampa for the wow effect and the view. depends what is more important for you

We recently had our wedding day meal in Bellevue, it was amazing. We picked it after taking advice from Forum members and it was the nicest meal I%26#39;ve had in a long time with impeccable service. We were lucky enough to have a beautiful view of the river and the castle. The menu is available online so you could have a look and see if it%26#39;s in your price range, I certainly thought it was worth every penny.
We also ate on the terrace at Cihelna and I would thoroughly recommend the food and views there too.

at bellevue, you need to book and specify in advance that you want a river view as otherwise you do not get allocated one. the best tables though are on the small terrace outside.
similar at hergetova cihelna, if you want a table in the row on the riverside, you need to specify this when you book
