I%26#39;m traveling with 3 other friends to Prague next month (Sept) and was wondering how to get to Kutna Hora, specifically the %26quot;Bone Church%26quot;. Is there a bus, and then you just walk, or is it better to go with a tour group? Also, i haven%26#39;t been able to find the hours it%26#39;s open or prices...If anyone has information i would GREATLY appreciate it. Any other useful information on other great places to go is welcome also! thanks! angie

better to go by yourself. there are hourly trains to kutna hora hlavni nadrazi which is nearer the bone church. it is a 20 minute or so walk from the bone church to kutna hora centre and kutna hora mesto station (which is nearer the city centre) connects to trains to prague, or you can catch a bus between the two
obviously if you go by yourself, you need to find your way around, but the bone church is on the main road into kutna hora and so navigating yourself iks quite easy. the big advantage is cost - by train it is about 5 dollars per person each way and this is far cheaper from what an organised tour will charge. you will also have a better sense of a trip if you go by yourself, and can spend how long you like seeing what you want to see.
as in most cities in the country, most monuments are closed on mondays and open office hour times on tuesday to sundays

I have been there twice in recent years last time being may this year The train is the way to go.check www.idos.cz for train times (there is an English link) train takes about an hour. The Bone church in Sedlac is about a 10 minute walk from the train station, there are yellow distance markers on the pavements to help show the way but it is pretty straight forward. just walk onto the main road from the station and head towards tha town, you will see a big church on the left hand side of a junction as you head to the main town ,the bone church is about 200 meters to the right of this junction. As peb7 has said it is about another 20 minutes walk into the town itself, though there are plenty of buses.
The Italian Court Building there is beautiful and we managed a private tour round it.the cathedral at the top of the town is facinating and has some great murals. It is a lovely old fashioned town with lots of nice small and big buildings,Get to the top of the hill by the cathedral for some great views.plenty of great places for good food and drink.

We went this spring. Train works well, but figure out in advance which one and from where. We ended up on a local that stopped everywhere, so the trip took more than two hours, when it could have been about an hour.
But it was worth the journey.
