lady at hotel just emailed me and said it will cost between 600czk and 800czk to get from airport to the hotel ...how much would this be in euros or english ...couldnt find czks on currency converter ..any advice greatly received thanks
|||
this is about 25-30 euros. Take the yellow AAA taxis. They accept euros, but make sure in advance.
If you need hotel, The ICON in city center is highly recommended

change money at marks %26amp; spencer in england as they%26#39;ve got the best rates. you may change british pounds as well but better is to use the atm%26#39;s at the airport. what hotel is it?
|||
600 - 800 crowns is 15 - 20 pounds, pound is around 38, euro is around 28 to the crown.

Hi,
We were in Prague at the beginning of May %26amp; used a private firm. We were impressed with the time keeping, comfortable Vauxhall estate %26amp; the polite, English speaking driver.
I%26#39;d looked on TA prior to going %26amp; noted the various commens about firms, local taxis, prices etc %26amp; decided that we just wanted a %26quot;smooth, hassle free passage%26quot; from airport to hotel, without worrying if we were getting a ride at the %26quot;correct%26quot; price, so asked the hotel to organise the transfer for us. They are a little more expensive than the local taxis, but - to be honest - we weren%26#39;t bothered about the odd pound or so.
The firm%26#39;s details are: 24ATP transport services.
Tel: +420 774 492 228

%26amp; the price to Wenceslas Sq (zone 1) was 45 euros or 1200kc for collecting us %26amp; taking us back.
Regards

no point in taking euros unless you already have euros. if you change pounds to euros and then change them to crowns, you will be paying exchange commission twice.
the taxis do accept euros, but you get a duff rate and you get the change in local currency. as heinokules says, there are enough places in the UK where you can get czech crowns at a better rate than you can in prague, including marks %26amp; spencer and at the post office

thankyou to everyone who replied you have all been a great help ..going to have a good scan round on here this afternoon ..ive actually got my hotel sorted out and im staying at the hotel splendid which is at oveneeka 33 ..looks ok ish ,but to be honest i dont intend spending that much time in the hotel when theres so much to see and do ..roll on sunday ...thanks
|||
looks ok - have you read the not so splendid reviews of the hotel on the reviews section of this site under %26#39;prague hotels%26#39;?
set across the river and at the moment with tram tracks taken up not very well connected to the city. the hotel belvedere on the next street is much better
|||
right now tram 17 passes by there, i guess, which is a good tram to get to the city center. copy down all tram numbers anyway, you get back 24 hours to the hotel by tram. check out the beergarden in letna park, if the wheather is nice...

thanks again everyone and peb,yes i see what youre saying etc ..i did read all the reviews before i booked it ,but im not going to be in the hotel much anyway ..but on another review on there it says a 15 min walk to the centre ,so you never really know what to believe until you actually get to the place ..i didnt want to be right in the centre anyway to be honest ..went out to the dom repub last year and some of the reviews where we stayed were terrible and some were fantastic..and all of these reviews were from people who had stayed there during the SAME fortnight ...so you never really know what to believe until you get there ..ill just be going there with an open mind anyway lol ..i dont mind a bit of a walk to get to the various places ,although i must admit i am panicking slightly about having to swim across the river first ....thanks everyone for all of your advice ..
