Transport issue

I%26#39;ve figured out I can purchase a 7 day card. However which is the easiest way to get from Hotel ARia to Prazska Trznice (Prague market) Holesovice. I haven%26#39;t figured out tram routes yet as the lines on map go all over the place! Is Hotel Aria walking distance from the Old Town Square and Wencelas Sq?

Hi

Your hotel is near Malostranske namesti and only 3-400m from Charles bridge so walking distance it is.

According to www.dpp.cz the easiest way from Malostranske nam to Praszka Trznice is to take tram 12 northwards to Sparta and then tram nr 25 to the market.

There are also some tram and metro maps to download fron the site.

aria is walking distance from the old town square but not from the prague market at holesovice (which is not really worth going to as it sells fuit and veg which you can get elsewhere in the city and cheap or what looks like counterfeit sports clothes in a very run down area.

as you are central, you don%26#39;t really need a 280 crown 7 day card. just buy a few 20 crown single ticket cards at the airport when you arrive or at the ticket machines from any metro station

tram 12 which you catch from malostranske namesti normally does not go to sparta but is temporarily diverted due to tram repairs. changing at letenske namesti is easier as this means you can catch trams 1 and 25 to the market

Thanks for that info. - Here is a silly question - will the stations be marked so I%26#39;ll know which one to get off at?

|||

tram stops are marked by the side of the road, but you will not see that from a busy tram. there are electronic signs in the trams which tell you the next tramstop and they do anounce the next tram stop on the intercom %26quot;pristi zastavka ....%26quot;

|||

upcoming stations are announced in the tram. the stop beside the market is holesovicka trznice. it%26#39;s close to the river on the right, mc donalds on the left...

I was recently at the airport and (I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP!) there were at least 50 people waiting for service at the MHD booth. I don%26#39;t know any hotel that does not sell the single journey tickets and, as peb said, you don%26#39;t need a pass.

|||

Thanks for all the help. The hotel will collect me at the airport. I%26#39;ll walk around the first day and figure out some of the main attractions i.e. Old Town and New Town. I%26#39;ll buy a few once off travel tickets and see how we get on. I might go to the Prague Market and I%26#39;ll need them for that trip

if the public transport ticket booth at terminal 1 (which is the busiest) has a big queue, simply walk to the arrivals area in terminal 2 which is next door, where there are normally hardly any queues at the prague transport authority offices (and still have the booth signposted %26quot;metro - tram - bus%26quot;). taxis and buses also go from terminal 2 to the city if you don%26#39;t want to walk back to terminal 1
