We will be arriving at this hotel late in the day and have been told there are not many restaurants in the area. Given that we will be tired, does anyone know of a good local restaurant with English menu in the area?

I%26#39;m not sure what %26quot;late in the day%26quot; is. Assuming it%26#39;s after 9pm?
Cocafe is a 4 minute tram ride away and is open until midnight. Get the 19 tram direction Lehovec. Get off at the 3rd stop = Biskupcova (pronounced bis-cup-sova). Cocafe is at the tram stop. They do mostly sweet and savory pancakes, but also have a few meat dishes and salads. You have to ask for an English menu, but they do have one.
There are 2 restaurants that I really like by the Jiriho z Podebrad metro (get metro 2 stops direction Dejvicka), take the exit from the metro station for Vinohradska. The first is Mozaika which is fantastic, and on a par with many of the top class restaurants in old town which are normally recommended on this site, but ½ the price. Address is Nitranska 13, open until midnight, not sure what time the restaurant closes. The other is Cerna Kocka Bily Kocour (black cat white cat), which I think is open until 2am, again not sure what time the kitchen closes. It has good food, bar atmosphere, right on Vinohradska - number 62. If you think the metro might be too complicated at this time of night, the taxi ride should be around $8 . Both these places should automatically give you the english menu.
Does anyone else have better suggestions?

Sorry about the time on my recent post. By late in the day I meant around dinnertime. Thanks for the advice.
Is it easy to purchase a bottle of vodka or scotch in Prague?
Any suggestions where a good place might be?

%26quot;Is it easy to purchase a bottle of vodka or scotch in Prague?%26quot;
Very easy... assuming you are after regular brands + there are quite a few places specializing in some top quality stuff.
As far as recommendation for a good place to buy it... do you mean Prague in general or close to your hotel?

I assume the hotel is the Dorint Novotel Don Giovanni.
Mozaika is a good choice.
A little closer, near the Flora mall and metro stop on Vinohradska is Potrefena Husa. Upscale Czech pub with Czech dishes but also stuff like ribs, steaks and burgers. Can get full though. Here is my blog post on it:

Decent sushi at Hanil on Slavikova (crosses Vinohradska), near the Jiriho z Podebrad metro station.

Re the liquor purchase -- just someplace that is convenient to get to from the Don Giovanni, not necessarily in the neighborhood....
Thanks everyone for restaurant tips.

Re liquor purchase:
a) There%26#39;s a small gas station about 200m from the hotel. Don%26#39;t know how well stocked they are, but sure will have a Johnnie Walker or Finlandia Vodka. If you want to try a local bran look for Prazska Vodka or Vodka Amundsen:
b) Just in front of the hotel is a tramway stop. Take tram No. 11 or 16 one stop to station FLORA. You will exit duirectly in front of Palac Flora shopping mall.
You can also walk it - it%26#39;s 800m from the hotel, just follow the Vinohradska street in the direction towards the TV tower.
There is Albert grocery supermarket inside the Palac Flora
