Prague train station(s)

Does Prague have one or two train (rail) stations? When I try to book my rail tickets online from Berlin to Prague there appear to be two options: Praha Holesovice and Prague hl.n.

Can someone tell me if this is the case? And if so, which one is preferable? Is Prague HI.N an actual rain station, or a metro station?

Any help or insight would be appreciated!

there are several train stations in Prague

Prague hl.n is Halavni nadrazni and is the main train station and closest to the central area of the city,Holesovice is to the north of the city .

check where your hotel is as it may be better to get the train to Holesovice rather than Halavni.

sorry that should be spelt Hlavni.

Holesevice is the main train station and more common for international trains

Nadrazi is more for the local in Czech country trains.

There are metro stops at both train stations

The train from Berlin stops in Holsevice first, then Nadrazi. It really depends on where your hotel is as to what stop is better for you.

I used Holesevice as that was most convenient for me. I am not sure that all Berlin trians stop at Nadrazi, just double check schedule.

It is a very nice scenic train ride along the river from Berlin to Prague. Heading south from Berlin, sit on left side of train for best views.

ignore the above. %26quot;nadrazi%26quot; means station and not local

only a very limited number of trains stop at both hlvani nadrazi, the central station, and at holesovice. both are on the red metro line and are three stops apart

first choose the time of train you want to choose and then if it stops at both stations, choose the station by its convenience as to where you stay in prague (which you have not said).

the price of the ticket (to prague) should be the same for both stations from berlin

Thanks, everyone for the above answers. (especially the part about sitting on the left side of the train on the way over -- great advice!)

Please avoid Hlavni nadrazi... unless you want to have your first impression of Prague ruined from the very moment you disembark the train. That place is old, dirty, simply horrible, major hangout for all homeless and other weird characters. BTW, locals call the park in front of the train station %26quot;Sherwood%26quot;.

Holesovice is nothing special either but not as bad as Hlavni nadrazi.
