Disabled in Prague?

My in laws are thinking of visiting Prague but have limited mobility. (Whilst not in a wheelchair, they can%26#39;t walk very far.)

Could anyone recommend a nice hotel that is reasonably central, which has lifts etc and is accessible?

Any tips on how to get around would also be useful.

Many thanks,

Nao

there are many hotels in the old town area which are within 5 minutes walk of the old town square. with there being almost 100 hotels in the old town, it may be better to state what kind of price / comfort / stars you are looking at. the four seasons has probably the best location 5 minutes walk from the old town and very near the charles bridge and has a lift, but as the most expensive hotel in town, this may not suit your needs.

To get to the castle, you can take the tram up the castle hill.

Sorry, I hadn%26#39;t really thought of that. It%26#39;s for an anniversary so I think something at the %26#39;nice%26#39; end rather than %26#39;budget%26#39;.

It will be something that the family pays for as a present so I suppose something nice, but without being indecently expensive, as they are quite modest people and I don%26#39;t think they would like something too %26#39;blinging%26#39;! Also I think they would prefer a boutique type hotel to a huge soulless place (if there is such a place in Prague) but perhaps for facilities a larger place would be better. For instance they wouldn%26#39;t want to have to walk up more than one flight of stairs as it would be difficult for them.

I%26#39;m not really sure; I suppose if people have experience of visiting Prague with disabilities then any tips would help. As I said, they can walk but not very far without resting.

Thanks!

intercontinental is 10 minutes slow flat walk from the old town square and not too far from the tram station to take your inlaws across the river. It also has a top floor restaurant view of the castle if your inlaws are tired. It is though a 1980%26#39;s concrete building with lifts so does not have the boutique feel.

round the corner from the interncontinental on a quiet street is the hotel bellagio. 4 stars, older building but with lifts and has a boutique, but not modern design feeling. the hotel has good reviews on the tripadvisor site

www.bellagiohotel.cz for more details.

if this is out of price range, we can recommend some cheaper options

Thanks for your help.

Personally I was thinking somewhere on the flat either side of the bridge, then they have fairly easy walks to most attractions with the option of a short taxi-ride up the top of the hill to the castle etc.....or is there enough up the hill to do things that way round?

The %26#39;In-law%26#39;s%26#39; son...

I would stay on the flat side of the town - the old town side of the river - there are more restaurants and cafes there than on the castle side. If the weather is good and you want to treat, there are some old vintage cars which sit near the old town square which can take the inlaws up to the castle and do a tour of the city

As it was mentioned already - definitely stay on the %26quot;flat side%26quot; of the town.

Some hotels were mentioned already. I%26#39;d also consider the big hotel chains, e.g. Renaissance, Marriott or perhaps even Four Seasons. All three are very centrally located, close to Old Town Sq. or Venceslas Sq., Four Seasons is %26quot;next door%26quot; from the Charles Sq.
