I%26#39;ll be flying from Rome to Prague on Czech Air and then right on to Delta Airlines to Atlanta(frequent flyer mileage for free).
1. Will I need to go thru customs/security at the Prague airport?
2. Does the airline check my bags thru to Atlanta?

I%26#39;m sorry, I can%26#39;t answer your question, fatjack1, but I%26#39;d appreciate hearing about your experience wih Czech Airlines when you get home and can tell about it.

You will definately need to go through security at Prague in terminal 1 for the atlanta flight but the airport security is at the entrance to the actual departure gate. provided you do not need to reclaim luggage, there is no passport control when changing planes at prague although you need to change from terminal 2 (where the rome flight lands) to terminal 1 (where the atlanta flight goes from). the terminals are next door to eachother. sometimes there is an additional security check for the change between terminals, but few people change, so there is not much of a queue.
whether your bags are checked through to atlanta depends on what kind of ticket you have. if you have one through rome - prague - atlanta ticket, your bags should be checked through, even though you fly on two different airlines. if you do not have one through ticket, then you will need to pick your luggage up in prague and check them in again, and if you are on the morning flight from rome, you may not have enough time to do this, as the change is less than two hours

They WILL check your baggage in Rome all the way to ATL regardless whether you are on a single ticket itinerary or have two separate tickes. DL and OK have baggage interline agreements in PRG and are both in SkyTeam.
Just show both tickets to the check-in agent in Rome.

Thanks for the information. It looks my baggage will be booked thru to Atlanta as I%26#39;m flying on one ticket. But things can change. Again, thanks.

on one ticket your baggage should be checked through and you should have no need to pick your bags up in prague. if you buy liquids in rome airport, make sure that you have these wrapped in a sealed plastic bag, as otherwise they will be taken away at airport security in prague

I just flew from Krakow to Prague and then NYC via Czech Airlines and Delta. Once we checked our bags in Krakow we didn%26#39;t need to claim them until we arrived in NYC. We did have go back through security one we arrived in Prague for our flight to NYC, however security was right at our gate and it ws very easy and fast to get through.

krakow to NYC via Prague is completely within terminal 1 at prague. as said above, at terminal 1, the security is at the gate (so don%26#39;t leave it too long before going to the gate). Rome to Atlanta is terminal 2 to terminal 1 (as said above, the terminals are connected to eachother). there will still be security at the gate but there may also be security between one terminal and the other.
Even if there is, the change time which from the timetable is over 1.5 hours should be more than sufficient (1 hour is even enough if the Rome plane is late). Prague is a convenient airport to change at
