Cost and Frequency of Prague/Krakow Train

Based on all the really helpful posts I%26#39;ve read here, I think the best bet for me and my travel companion to get from Prague to Krakow in late September will be the train. (A one-way plane ticket is way too expensive, and using only half of a round-trip might cause visa problems for my friend.)

However, I%26#39;m having a hard time navigating the www.idos.cz website to find out (i) how often and when the train runs and (ii) how much it costs. Can anyone give me a basic idea, so we can make our final decision??

Also, does anyone have any thoughts on the Cloister Inn in the Stare Mesto in Prague? I%26#39;m looking for centrally-located, reasonably priced lodging, and it seems like it could be interesting. If not the Cloister, any other similar suggestions?

Thanks a ton!!!

there have been a couple of cloister inn recos on this forum recently (not sure anymor if they were all from one person). the location is good anyway.

trains go at 10:00, 14:00, 21:00 and 23:00. the ones at 14:00 and 21:00 go directly. with the other 2 connection you%26#39;d have to change trains in kattowice. Click here:

type in from prague to krakow and the date and click on search. on the next page, click on next at the bottom, it will show the next train. then click on the train you choose for more information. You can buy tickets the day befor at the train station, ticket is around 800 czk if you buy it in cz.

why will using half of a round trip air ticket cause visa problems?

Cloister inn has good reviews on this site. go to the reviews section under %26quot;prague hotels%26quot; and you will see 134 mainly good reviews
