Libations & Candy

Drinks and food of course are a matter of personal opinion, however I was wondering what are some of the best Czech:

1. Beer (I prefer medium/light or medium/dark)

2. Wine (white, red just about anything that isn%26#39;t too sweet)

3. Sparkling??

I%26#39;d prefer to have all the goodies I can%26#39;t get at home. Also what are traditional Czech candies?

Hi Champagne Girl,

Wine you will have a good choice of v cheap wine from countries you won%26#39;t usually see elsewhere. When I lived in Prague I used to like a white wine of the grape variety Muller Thurgau - it%26#39;s related to Reisling. However I would suggest to look in a supermarket and buy a range of mid price local wines, which will probably be cheap by any normal standard. Have a tasting and then look in restaurants for good bottles of one you liked.

Bubbly you can look for Russian Champagne if you%26#39;re adventurous.

Beer - start at the left hand side and work your way across the bar shelf.

For lighter beers, try Czech Budwieser 10 degree or Gambrinus, but I know tastes vary widely on this.

For dark, you could try Kozel, Krusovice, or Bernard if you can find them.

sparkling wine: bohemia brut - pretty nice.

try geisha chocolate in supermarkets and look out for places called cukrarna. you%26#39;ll get yummy czech pastries inside, i like all the things with nuts / chocolate. There%26#39;s a good one in the passage at vodickova tram stop beside wenceslas square.

budweiser 10 degree is my favourit too, although not as common as gambrinus in Prague. as an american you have to try the original!

all are personal choices. krusovice light is a very good beer. bohemia sect sparkling wine is in ample supply in prague
