car rental

should i rent a car in prague?

thanks andy

NO!,

the main tourist areas of Prague are pedestrianised and there is also an excellent tram service to get you around.a car in Prague would be a real hinderance.

only if you plan a trip outside of prague and then let us know where you are planning to go, as public transport may be more convenient. as unclegus says, within prague, the public transport system is cheap and excellent

mlyn karlstejn is down the road from karlstejn station. from there,. there are hourly trains at least to prague. taking the train to prague will be much easier than car, as you will need to find somewhere to park. going to other castles, you are best to have a car, as also getting from the airport to mlyn karlstejn. is there a reason why you stay outside prague?

Compared to Rome and Naples (both places I have visited recently) crime in Prague is a great deal less.

Most common crime is pickpocketing especially on the metro and trams. In 14 years of travelling to Prague I have never had a problem ,but have met a few people that have.

in prague, there are enough out of the way places hidden down small streets in the old town and castle area. walk on petrin hill and you would not believe you are in the city.

pickpockets do exist in prague and they are a problem. but if you take sensible precautions, you should be ok. most of the pickpocketing, whilst organised is on opportunity. if you do not give the pickpockets the opportunity, they will go onto another person. thankfully violent crime and mugging is extremely rare in prague.

theft from cars is much more common. do not leave anything on the back seat in view of people from the street
